Mr. Bigstuff's Traxxas Street Sport Project

I got a Street Sport for Christmas 2001.  I got it because I was looking for a 2WD 1/10 electric on-road car.  There really aren't any out there.  I already have a Kyosho Mantis, and I would have been happy to get another, but the EP Mantis has disappeared with every other 2WD touring car from a few years back (1997).  Everyhitng is 4WD now, but I always told myself that I didn't want to be bothered with building and maintaining a 4WD transmission.  The Associated TC3 with it's shaft drive was always intriguing, but I didn't want to make that leap.

So my Teammate JJ points out the Street Sport in the Tower catalog at work one day.  And as is my MO, I immediately and obsessively started to research the SS.  There were many good things right off the bat: 20 turn mod motor, adjustable ball diff, 4-wheel indep. suspension, oil damped shocks all around, and it was RTR.  This would be my first RTR, and I was very happy about that.  I build my first 5 R/C cars, I don't need to build them any more. ;-)  I decided to get one, and my teammates would as well.  Then 4 of us could race at lunch at work.  That all went to hell when I decided to watch the E-Maxx videos at the Traxxas Website, and 3 of us got E-Maxxes instead. ...But that's another story.  I already had my Street Sport, and it was a project in the works...
